For many blind people, the challenge of using a webcam in a meeting means knowing whether or not you are actually in frame, and in a professional setting it is quite important we look our best and don’t offer our colleagues a view of up our nose!
iPhone users who use the VoiceOver screenreader get extra information via the Camera app that gives audio feedback to let the user know where they are in frame, however most of us use a PC usually to conduct our meetings and we don’t get similar feedback from those devices.
However, that has all changed now thanks to the development of a new app called Can You See Me. It’s been created by blind software developer Ben Mustille-Rose and he talked to Blind Guy Steven Scott on today’s podcast to explain how the app came about, and how he created it.
